The New York City Artist Corps was created by Mayor de Blasio in spring 2021 as a way of providing relief to New York City’s hard-hit arts community while bringing a diverse range of free cultural programming to all New Yorkers. City Artist Corps members have fanned out across the five boroughs to present workshops, exhibitions, performances, installations, murals, and much more - free and open to all.
NYC DOT operates roughly 200 Open Streets at locations throughout the city, including a record number at schools, to provide more public space for New Yorkers, promoting economic development, supporting education, facilitating pedestrian and bike mobility, and providing new ways for New Yorkers to enjoy cultural programming and build community. The Open Streets application is available online and easy to complete.
